User management

Managing your users and their permissions is essential to keeping your payment operations secure. The user permissions available in the Ripple Payments UI enable you to assign granular permissions to each user, giving them the appropriate level of access.

Prerequisite

You must be an Administrator to access the Users page.
Check your permissions in your Ripple Payments user profile.

\n

When you add a new user in the Ripple Payments UI, the available user roles and permissions provide control over each user access to system functionality. This helps prevent unauthorized access to sensitive data.

Roles

\n

The following roles are available in the Ripple Payments UI:

RoleDescription
Organization AdministratorA user in this role is automatically assigned all available permissions.
User AdministratorA user in this role is assigned default permissions, which the Organization Administrator can't change.
OperatorA user in this role may be assigned permissions by the Organization Administrator or User Administrator.

If you are an Organization Administrator, you can perform the following user management actions from the Users page:

Note

An institution can only have five Organization Administrator accounts with full permissions for the Ripple Payments UI (including user management).

Create a user account

\n

To create a user account:

\n

  1. \nIn the \nRipple Payments UI\n, select \nSettings\n in the left nav bar.\n
    2. \n
  2. \nSelect \nUsers\n to display the \nUsers\n page.\n
    3. \n
  3. \nSelect the \nNew User\n button in the upper right corner to display the \nNew User\n page.\n
    4. \n
  4. \nFill in basic information for the new user: \nFirst Name\n, \nLast Name\n, and \nEmail\n address.\n
    Note

    The email address is the permanent username for this account. Ripple Payments uses this address to contact the user and set up a password.

  5. \nSelect a \nRole\n. For more information, see \nRoles\n.\n

  6. \nOperator role only\n:\n
    \nStart by choosing one of the four permission sets that most closely describes the type of activities this user will perform. \nRipple Payments\n turns on the permissions granted for that permission set.\n

    • \nTo modify a set’s permissions, select the checkboxes for permissions you want to turn on or off.\n
      • \n
    • \nIf you don't want to begin with a permission set, you can set permissions from scratch by selecting checkboxes of permissions you want.\n

  7. \nTo create the new user account, select \nSave User\n at the bottom of the page.\n
    \nThe \nRipple Payments UI\n displays the \nUsers\n page and lists your new user.\n

Whenever you create a new user, your RippleNet instance sends email to the user with both a link for Ripple Payments UI access and instructions for setting up a password. It’s up to the new user to create their new account using the emailed credentials.

Edit a user account

To edit an existing user account:

  1. \nSelect \nSettings\n in the left nav bar, then the \nUsers\n option on the \nSettings\n page.\n
    2. \n
  2. \nFind the user you want to modify and click the user name link.\n\n
    3. \n
  3. \nSet revised account parameters the same way you set them when you created a new user. \n
    Note

    You can’t change the email address. It must remain the same for authentication purposes.

  4. \nSelect \nSave User\n to save your changes.\n

Delete a user account

To delete an existing user account:

  1. \nSelect \nSettings\n in the left nav bar, then the \nUsers\n option on the \nSettings\n page.\n

  2. \nFind the user you want to delete and in the \nActions\n column, click \nDelete User\n.\n

Permissions

The following user permissions are available in the Ripple Payments UI:

Company ProfilesRippleNet partner company profiles and public information.
API CredentialsCredentials for using the Ripple Payments Direct 2.0 API.
PaymentsAccess to payments in test, UAT, and production environments. The Edit permission enables users to initiate payments.
Authorize PaymentsUsers with this permission may authorize or reject payments that have been initiated.
AccountsAccess to accounts involved in RippleNet payments, both sender and receiver. The Edit permission enables you to create, edit, and manage accounts.
IdentitiesAccess to beneficiary creation and removal.

Tip:

Select one of the four permission sets Business Growth, PM & Integration, Payment Operations, or Maintenance & Support to use preselected read/edit permissions for an operator role. You can always modify the preselected permissions.

Environments

Ripple Payments UI provides three environments that correspond to different phases of your implementation:
